Phil

Meet Phil Harrison, P+W CEO, who takes us on a tour of the firm and gives an overview of their history and values. "It's exciting to think that you can actually make a really big difference."

75 years ago, Lawrence B. Perkins and Philip Will, Jr. founded the architectural firm Perkins+Will. They were classmates, colleagues and friends who grew their practice from neighborhoods and schools.

Today, the global practice team numbers more than 1,600 passionate professionals who work in multiple countries across the globe. The firm has helped shape cities and transform the profession as a whole.

However, many of the firms customers, and even most of their own employees, were unaware of the company's history, or just how diverse Perkins+Will really was.

In 2010, creative agency 50,000 Feet was tasked to build a platform for a firm-wide retrospective of Perkins+Will’s 75th anniversary celebration. The project consisted of a microsite, a blog, print communications and events.
A key element of the project was a series of videos produced by AboutFace called 75 Years.

The project takes the viewer on a collective journey through the history of the firm through storytelling.

The six video series, with videos released monthly, profiles the firms role in the development of movements in architecture, like modernism and sustainable architecture. We also learn how the team works together and finds inspiration.

CEO Phil Harrison takes us through a day in the life of the Atlanta office. Ralph Johnson, Firm Wide Design Principal, as he takes us on a tour through the Windy City to teach us about Modernism. Peter Busby discusses how the world’s largest sustainable design firm is working to sustain the lead. We pull up a chair for a conversation with Haworth President & CEO Franco Bianchi. We take a walk with Eva Maddox and Eileen Jones, Branded Environments Principals, as they share some of the inspiration for their creativity.

Perkins + Will has always been a firm that looked to the future, never being bogged down in the past. Getting into online marketing via a documentary web series is no exception.
